Spring 2007 Exchange Students

From May 12 to May 27, 16 students from Martin Luther School in Plzen, Czech Republic will be experiencing TSL first hand. They will be living with a host families from our 6th and 7th grades. The Czech students will have the opportunity to experience the dynamic of Christian home life - something that is rare for them. They will also get a chance to practice their English and see some of the sights in the Watertown area. This type of experience is a tremendous blessing for both the students from Plzen and our students and families as well.

Education is very important in the Czech Republic.  The literacy rate is 97%.  It was decided soon after mission work began that a good way to reach people with the Gospel would be through a Christian Day School.  In the fall of 1992 the school opened its doors to students from Kindergarten through grade nine.  Classes were held in a rented facility in Skvrnany.  The enrollment was 37.  In the fall of 1995 Martin Luther School moved to the newly renovated building at Skolni namesti 1 (pictured above).  The purchase and renovation of this building have allowed the school to grow.  The enrollment for the 2003-2004 school year was 192.
