Important Information on
Pick-up after School at Western Avenue
August, 2005
Dear Friends –
Beginning in the 2004-2005 school year, we instituted an
after-school childcare program. Because of this program there are several items concerning picking up children after school that have changed effective this school year:

The gates to the Western Avenue playground will remain closed until
2:50 PM. You may drive your vehicle on the playground after the gates
have been opened. Please wait for school personnel to open the gates.

It is necessary that all vehicles leave the playground by 3:15 PM so
the gates can again be closed. The After-school Care Program will be
using the playground from 3:15 – 4:00 PM. If you need to stay at
the Western Avenue campus longer than 3:15 PM, please park on
Sixth Street.

It is very important that children be picked up by 3:15 PM. Children
who remain at school and have not been picked up by 3:15 PM will
become a part of the after-school care program at that time. The
charge will be $3.00 for each hour.
Students who need to stay after school to work with a teacher will be
supervised by that teacher and therefore are not a part of the
after-school care program.
If you find that you are delayed due to an emergency and that you
cannot be here by 3:15 PM to pick up your child, please call the
Western Avenue office at 261-3615 immediately to inform us of this
and we will keep your child inside, but not a part of the
after-school care program until you arrive.
After 3:15 PM children whose parents have picked them up are welcome
to stay and use the new playground equipment. However, their parent
must be present and supervising them.
We are hopeful these procedures will assist all of our students –
those in the after-school care program and those who are being
picked up by their parents at 3:15 PM. If you have any questions or
